The Dominican Republic Government has selected our company to be one of the consultancy firms that will carry out the new conceptual and museographic designs of different museums in the capital, Santo Domingo. The selected museums are four: Alcázar de Colón Museum, Casas Reales Museum, Atarazanas Reales and Fortaleza de Ozama Museum.
The project is framed within the Tourism Promotion Programme of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo that has been financially supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and that has as objective to contribute to the sustainability of the national industry and increase its competitiveness, opening new complementary markets to the “sun and sea” tourism and enhancing a type of tourism based on the richness and importance of the historical-cultural heritage and the social inclusion.
The Colonial City, declared by the UNESCO, World Heritage Site in 1990, wants to become the image and the symbol of the cultural and urban regeneration of Santo Domingo. Therefore, its museums want to become an important part for the repositioning of Santo Domingo on the map of cultural and tourism destinations in the Caribbean, taking advantage and strengthening the importance of the Colonial History, the Navigations and the Discovery of America. The idea is to achieve a modern museographic design, coherent and of great cultural and tourist interest.
